A funeral service was held on Tuesday for Princess Yuriko, who died earlier this month at age 101, at Toshimagaoka Cemetery in Tokyo.
The funeral procession left Princess Yuriko¡¯s residence at the Akasaka Estate on Tuesday morning.
The ceremony, called Renso-no-gi, began at around 10 a.m. About 480 people were in attendance, including Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko and other members of the imperial family. As a representative of the government, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba paid his respects to the late princess. Her granddaughter Princess Akiko served as the chief mourner.
